In module 1A children begin their journey of learning the most important 21st-century skills through architecture and design. They will work on ten different exploratory projects integrating all STEAM subjects and even beyond, as they will also start learning critical thinking, human-centric design, and imagination as ingredients of innovation.
Arkki module 1A fosters children’s awareness of the environment that they live in through all senses. They start to understand the difference between the built and natural environment and learn environmental appreciation and responsibility. They also start learning the analytical and problem-solving methods of any design process, and the capacity to exercise sensitivity, taste and critical judgment. Through the projects, they will also start experiencing that for complex problems there is always more than one possible solution.
The above learnings are achieved by applying different techniques and materials in the projects covering themes like senses, perception, space, sounds, forms, light, colors, materials and mood.
