Active participation in social and community programs is in the DNA of both Arkki International and Arkki ASEAN. We work with many different partners including UNICEF, Save The Children Fund, Helsinki City Planning Office, HCMC Department of Planning and Architecture, Saigon Innovation Hub, Christina Noble’s Children Foundation, and many other Children Supporting Organizations and MSME networks to provide creative education and 21st century skills to disadvantaged children and youth around the world.
CHILDREN-PARTICIPATORY IN DESIGNING THEIR FUTURE CITY
In Finland, Arkki works frequently with the Helsinki City Planning office for its urban planning and design projects. Most notably, Arkki students have helped design and plan the 32-hectare “Hernesaari” peninsula area to become a child-friendly residential area of Helsinki. They also participated in designing the Save the Children Headquarter in Helsinki, and many other projects.
In Vietnam, Arkki works with UNICEF, HCMC Department of Planning – Architecture and Saigon Innovation Hub to create “Children Innovate: Smart & Child-Friendly City” in 2018. The project has provided 11 urban planning workshops for 275 underprivileged & marginalized children around HCMC to re-design “Thu Thiem” – the new urban area of HCMC into a child-friendly and smart city.
